How To Use Naloxone:
Signs of an overdose:
Not breathing,
Lips & fingernails blue,
Doesn’t respond to attempts to rouse.
1: Grab them by the shoulders and shake them, hard. Rub your knuckles hard down their sternum or across their upper lip.
2: If they don’t respond, administer narcan into one nostril. (Don’t “prime” it. Just stick it all the way up their nose and squirts it ALL in.)*
*If you are using the auto-injector, please open the package and follow the voice commands. It is as simple as that.
3. Put them in the “recovery position” (on their side).
4. Call 911
5. If they don’t respond in 1-3 minutes, repeat the dose in the other nostril. (Your kit contains two doses.)
Narcan won’t hurt them, even if it’s administered by accident, so… when in doubt USE YOUR NARCAN.
